I remember Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon needing a Controller Pack, as well as Daikatana, Turok... and some others, but I can't completely recall all of it. Oh btw, gratz with ur n64, I enjoyed it while I was younger, and you shall too.

Oh, I used to play N64 games all the time, I just never owned a N64 myself.

But now I will!

The great thing about the N64 and its games is that it's extremely reliable, and if the games are in good shape, they're pretty much guaranteed to work. I bought a copy of Mischief Makers from a flea market, popped it in, and it just...worked.

You don't get that with a disk based system.

Disks suck. They take ages to load, you have to buy memory cards since the disks can't save on them and they are harder to pirate.
1. They're fairly quick at loading if they're implemented properly.
2. No modern console (well, at least this generation) uses memory cards...
3. IMO they're easier to pirate. They only usually need software mods (unless they're not available for that console yet) in addition to DVD-Rs, whereas cartridge-based consoles need flashcarts. Sure, flashcarts are practically plug-and-play, but unless you're talking about the DS not many people are going to want to pay over $100 just to get pirated software.

Maybe I just have a bad experience with disk consoles:

1. PS2 and GameCube are the only disk consoles I own, and they take a while to load each level, whereas cartridges access the memory almost instantly without the whirley disk noise,
2. Fair point, but disks still scratch and break far more easilly than cartridges,
3. But they are harder... Most ISO's are torrents which you have to burn to a disk with the right speed and it takes ages, and you have to mod your console, (except for GameCube where you can use a SD card, they had pirates in mind when they designed the GameCube ;)) but with memory cards it takes seconds to download and copy. And $100 is nothing compared to the $40 each modern games like COD.

Face the facts, disks suck. Cartridges rule!

Woo, I finally lucked out and scored a copy of Super Mario 64 for fairly cheap off eBay.

This is a game I HAD to buy.

N64 saves on the cartridge.

That doesn't make sense, there wouldn't be Memory Paks if you didn't need them at all.

Honestly though, not alot of games that I used had them. The main one I remember was Quest 64/Holy Magic Century. Ghost records may have been saved on some games like Mario Kart, but I certainly don't remember getting too much use out of mine. Generally if anything needed to be saved to it there was very little space left over D:
