Hacking Just bought a n3ds 9.9

Ok so I know this has been asked a million times before but I needed to know what I need to get started. I see a lot of Hax and it's greatly confusing to me on what I actually need.

I have System Version 9.9.0-26U and this is what it actually came with on first boot. I have not ran any applications including internet browser. I have a 32gb microsd on hand for files.

My goal is to exploit and get homebrew running, back up my sysnand, install and create a emunand if possible. I read CFW is impossible but can I have a later version of the official n3ds firmware. But I don't know if I need to grab a bunch of other files first.

I'm confused as to what ThemeHax and MenuHax is though. Also is homebrew channel different than homebrewlauncher?

Also would I be able to play online with my friend's n3ds without me having to update, even local play would suffice, we have monster hunter 4u. He's on 10.5.0-30u

If I can't run backup's that's okay but can I still run my legit games (carts;newer ones) and not have to worry about updating further?

Use menuhax to get homebrew launcher running. Then run safesysupdater with the N3ds 9.2 update package. Then install RXtools or Rein and to get emunand 10.5 working.

Yes. Make sure to follow the downgrade thread. If u mess up then a hardmod downgrade is the only way

Only with a hard mod. No band backup needed.

SysUpdater launched from menuhax will get the job done, but you will need the proper CIA files from "that 3ds iso site".

If and only if it has N3DS in the file name, if you install O3DS CIA's you're gonna have a bad time.

It has n3ds in file name I also have md5 hashes to check them. Do I need homebrew launcher or is it included with browserhax? Also what do I do with the browserhax .php files and stuff I have the zip browserhax_fright-master. Do I need to compile something?
