Joycon keeps disconnecting

• Hello wonder if someone can help me. I got hold of an v1 switch cheap but I have problem with the joycons keeps disconnecting when remove from the console. I changed the joystick on the left joycon because of drift but the problem is with both right and left. I don't think it's the rail guards as they work fine when in handheld mode. I am suspecting it's the wifi/Bluetooth that is bad because the wifi signal is pretty crap...and I mean really really bad. Anyone had this issue and can recommend me how to troubleshoot?

Try to go into the OFW and completely remove them from the system through the settings menu.
Then add them back in OFW and go back to the CFW.
Sometimes the 'optimal' settings from when they first connected get outdated and they start giving problems.

I tried that and I tried also connecting the joycons to my phone and they're working fine. So I noticed that I need the joycons to be pointed directly at the switch in order to work is that normal? Is the Bluetooth antenna really bad? I don't know what to troubleshoot anymore :-/
