let me just say this VERY clearly...

you do NOT have to update to 3.2j to play mario kart or any other
game other than the wiiware titles. Wiiware is only available online
and needs the 3.2j update. Otherwise people please just keep 3.1j_v2

if you have 3.1jv2 (from ssbb-jpn) mario kart wii pal version will
play just fine brickblocked...

don't install the mk channel it is useless for jpn wii's
and you really don't need to have a pal channel on an ntsc wii

ios37 is lurking on all updates above 3.1v2

US and EU 3.2 firmwares have ios37 ready to activate
at this stage 3.2j is unknown but bushings lister app will tell you
- installing an unnecessary update is foolish until it is confirmed to not be
dangerous to modified wii systems.

nintendo is readying a modified crippling wii system update - nintendo
aggressively targets anything that violates their business and copyright
and ip (this includes the trucha signed discs!)
- so take precautions and avoid unnecessary updates.

Thanks shredman. I understand it now. So, since I'm using 3.1J and already installed jap update from ssbb(jap), I just need to wiibrickblock d game and it'll work. But now, I'm still waiting for the definite answer on how to skip the 001 error since I'm using wiikey 1.9b. There's a ppf patch around but it's meant for unscrubbed version. I'm downloading the scrubbed version at the moment.

Another MK tip:
If you WBB your iso, and patch it again with the 3.1J_v2 firmware (the one at SSBB), you wont be able to play.

However, you dont need to DL your iso again. Just create a iso from any game that have any kind of update, and change the update version with the one provided by Phil :: CSF ( http://www.filefactory.com/file/6672f5 ) with the Wii Update Manager. It could be NTSC-U, NTSC-J or even PAL isos (i made it with a Mario Galaxy PAL iso).

- i did it on a pal copy and i have no extra channels and no semibrick

dont leave it too late to power down during the update otherwise you
will have duplicate channels an/or semi-brick

Donchecn,

I got SSBB USA to boot on my japanese system. Went into single player and it was doing the first movie I believe ti was and then it came up with disk reading error. Is it the media I am using or is it something else?

NinjaB, i have experience quite alot of time with disk reading error. In fact, tons of time. Even using quality media like Verbatim.

I concluded it should be either my burner or my Wii laser. Usually when that happens, i just use my Dad's DVD burner to do it. Then everything is fine.

i just checked and the firmware on metroid prime-jpn is the same as
wii-fit and family ski - nice pickup

i guess whatever files that are required to play metroid in english are the same
as the files used in the rather late release of metroid-jpn

1st person games sell notoriously bad over in the land of the rising sun...
(i updated before the release - my bad...)

it seem there is an other way to play MK without 3.2j or 3.1j_2
all you need :
PPF-O-Matic3
Trucha - M.KART.PPF
Undo M_KART .PPF
main.dol

dont ask me where to find these files, I dont know...
I just know you need many programs to make ppf files
maybe someone there know where we can get these files for the right iso ?

ok ! when finish patching MK.iso with Trucha - M.KART.PPF
you can now open it with truncha
after patching with main.dol back to ppf o matic and patch with undo M_KART.PPF
hmm I think that s all =)

and the freeloader is really needed ? I dont have freeloader and I dont know where I can get it

I might try it on another writer this time and with a better quality disc. My brand new high end HP notebook doesnt even write any Wii games with any success.I have to use a cheaper HP model! How pathetic is that.

Brawl Japanese version) and did the update on it that means i already have the 3.1j_v2, so i only need to do is to WBB the copy of Mario Kart PAL WII-MOMENT then im good to go with no problems?

@michael, I am not sure how to avoid installing the channels. But when i use my own solution to insert 3.1J_v2, it didn't install any channels for me.
