Way back in 2005, Strategy First announced a conversion of Jagged Alliance 2 Gold to the DS. Nothing was said about it since, until today.

    From IGN:

"Jagged Alliance is an explosive fusion of role-playing game and turn-based tactical combat, allowing players to become fully immersed in their characters. A new generation of gamers will be charged with liberating the Island of Metavira through the non-linear gameplay that made the 1994 original so popular amongst gamers.

"Jagged Alliance provides an exciting blend of RPG and turn-based action, which has already won over fans worldwide," said James Spice, vice president of marketing at Empire Interactive. "It's the right time to bring the game's frenetic battles to Nintendo DS and offer a new generation of players an exhilarating gameplay experience."

"Jagged Alliance for DS is one of the many highlights in our upcoming release pipeline and this announcement augments Empire's commitment to bringing quality titles to a global market," said Clive Kabatznik, CEO of Silverstar Holdings. "The title will prove to be a truly entertaining experience for DS gamers."

Under Empire Interactive's recent distribution arrangement with Atari, Inc., Jagged Alliance will be distributed exclusively by Atari in North America."

So from the sounds of it it is a port of the original game from 1994 (and not the sequel like was first announced). I'm hoping that this will be a good port as the DS could do with more games like this and the original was damn fine.

Here is a video of the PC original.

    WARNING TO YOUNG PEOPLE:
It was a DOS game so it might hurt your eyes (to be honest it looked pretty average back then), but us oldies loved it nonetheless.

Any infos on the release date yet? "highlights in our upcoming release pipeline" makes it sound like we're gonna have to wait another three years.

i havent posted here in over 2 years, I would say

but I just had to say OH MY FUCKING GOD to one of my favourite games of all time

Absolutely amazing, that its the FIRST jagged alliance, and not 2, the crappy sequel

Actually, the most amazing of all would be if they ported DEADLY GAMES, the kind of Jagged Alliance 1.5, where it was less story, and even more pure strategic mercinary chaos

God, I hope this game is as fun as I remember

I remember having my dad buy deadly games for me, and convincing him that it's not really as violent as it sounds, and looks, lol
