I have two Pokemon Gold Version cartridges and neither of them will work in the Retron 5. Both work fine in real Game Boy hardware, but in the Retron one won't even read at all and the other dumps an "Unknown Cartridge" that only displays a white screen when launched.
All of my other gen 1 Pokemon games work.
