I'm trying to extract the save data for use in an emulator (not to change the data). I extracted it fine (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon EoS becomes POKEMON SORA.0.sav) and renamed it to be the same name as the ROM, and they're in the same folder. However, the game doesn't see the file, and acts as if it's a new game. I, being the noob I am, have no clue what to do. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Point to the exact NDS game you're using at advanescene.com; do not share the actual rom file.

You can also give the CRC32 hash if you're not sure which exact version of the game it is. Archive the game in WinRAR and look under the CRC32 column at the far right.

Since you're new here, you might not have enough posts to upload at GBAtemp. You can instead upload the *.sav at 1fitchier.com. Type like this www . gbatemp . net

If you wish to keep your data a private matter, save the removal weblink to delete after sharing it. You can password protect the name and access of the archive; I'll contact you by private messaging you decide to go this route, and you're okay letting me look at your game save.

I don't mind if my save is shown - it doesn't matter to me, there's nothing that needs to be hidden. Anyways, I don't know how to link it on Advanscene, as the link doesn't change. So, here's a screenshot, as well as an upload of the file that was extracted.

In DeSmuME v0.9.11, I launched a bad dump of this game, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Sky (USA).nds (128MB - 8E0FB9DB) [1]. The proper dump is 22DDE080, but I had trouble finding this version [2]. I guess it doesn't matter in terms of save conversion.

Go to FileImport Backup Memory...File name: POKEDUN SORA.0.sav → Open → Auto (from current save data size) → OK.

If you want to later export this as a raw *.sav, use Export Backup Memory...

For more information about converting NDS *.sav between DeSmuME, NO$GBA, and TWiLight Menu++, read here.

Edit - I found the clean rom dump of that game. You'll need to use Open → Auto (from ADVANsCEne database) for this version.
