Issue with Linux 3ds port

When I boot Linux, it works fine until I get to the sign in. I can type in the username, but when I try to type the password, the keyboard freezes up. If I wait for a while, it says I need to type the username again, then the keyboard works fine, but the issue repeats. Anyone know how to fix it? I have not managed to log in yet, so nothing has changed from the fresh installation.

Type in the password anyway and press enter, no input is shown when doing so with any linux distro that doesn't have a GUI or in a terminal window

Just type it. I think it isn't frozen, it's just not showing the password for security reasons.
