DAX was a compression that dark alex made
it compressed better then CSO but it went the same way as 7zip, it never caught on stayed virtually unpopular

JSO was yet another compression method created by some coder, it also never caught on

What firmwares do .dax images play on? If it is compressed better than .cso, then I don't see any reason why I shouldn't use it, other than if my cfw doesn't play .dax.

it should have native support on the latest custom firmware or may have just been removed since it never caught on to reduce space
