Hacking ISO Loader NOT canceled

In waninkokos fake entry here at gbatemp (the one written by the unknown account-hacker) there was a file posted, that seemed to be different to the "leaked" file.

If it really was different, then where did that come from, if only the account was hacked? This somehow puzzles me...

Generally I have to say, that I think marcans attitude is really bitchy. Without marcan all this wouldn't be this far and everybody knows that and grateful for that. But this doesn't give you the right to constantly judge all the other people. And i don't care what he can or cannot do in six hours nor in 20 years. Nobody wants to know that. I honestly don't care if waninkoko worked on his loader since he was born, or just yesterday.

Especially with this usb iso loader i have to say: It is not only piracy. I will use it for all the games i payed for. Many times i wished that i don't have to change the disc to play another game. Nintendo could maybe have done something similar and with this pleased all the people, that buy games. But they didn't and because of that now it also works with backups.... well...

Just my 2 cent...

this question goes out to marcan... I would really like to hear his response!!

From all the quotes, you say that emulation piracy isn't bad because if not on the Wii, then some other system. So, if I write an app for the PS3 that allows the installation of Wii VC titles and is truely functioning and playable, what will your stance be then? Since I can pirate for another system, will it be ok on the Wii then? I mean, I can do it on another system, so why not the Wii then?

I would really really love to hear your response to that!

He gave some members it via PM BOX maybe...

Anyways,
That actually was a really good post..

Next to that this is gonna give a Homebrew War...

Man...

Though... I think BootMii will block piracy..
I'm fine with that...

I am not a "pirate" so...

But good Job wanky and Marcan on the USB ISO(war)Loader...

emulators are far from piracy. it has been discussed several times.

and at the end of the day... you are not going to hurt amstrad, commodore, snes, n64, gameboy and all the other systems there are emulators for.

have you ever seen an emulator for a current generation system ?

exactly

Plays wii games. Check out the screens/videos of it running brawl.

Thanks to emulators I don't have to buy anything from the Virtual Console! Thanks marcan and company for hosting the emu's on wiibrew!

If he gave that version to some people (and it would rather be some, than many) it should be quite easy to determine who hacked into his gbatemp account... well. Yeah let's talk more important now

*hehe* bootmii, talking about development times
smile.gif

But seriously, it's gonna be a great tool, when it's done. If it takes time, it just takes time. And all that guys, coding the stuff we like to use do it in their free time. No one should ever forget that.

And as mentioned before: In my opinion not only pirates could benefit from a backup iso loader.

I don't think it was right to remove all of the USB2.0 stuff... there are a ton of perfectly legal uses for it for wiibrew...

Yeah, true..

And I think the Wii is the most successful Homebrew console ever... it made the Homebrew scene really big... didn't it?

(Already did Homebrew on my PS1 and GC

(Sadly didn't know about Homebrew in my SNES time...

the wii isn't bad for homebrew but no where near the most successful homebrew box ever. that title is owned by the original xbox and will be very difficult to beat.

I would think that the PSP was one of the most successful platforms homebrew-wise. Enough off topic though. =P

I assume Waninkoko's still working on that "bug" he mentioned. I'm dying to see a working release. My Brawl disc JUST started getting read errors, so I think it was meant to be. lol

Yup, my Brawl is unplayable cos my Wii can't read Dual-Layer Discs anymore. Waninkoko's ISO Loader would make it playable again.

@Marcan, piracy is piracy no matter how old the system is. GBA Emulators were rampant during the peak of the GBA's run. Quit trying to justify your hypocrisy.

i feel stupid for asking... when you say usb iso loader do you mean usb stick? or usb hdd? both?

sorry for being such a n00bz this site has been so slow the last few days ive barely been able to get on :/

^ same goes for me lol
My mines still starts up but I can't play the movies anymore and once in a while I get a read error. I know for sure am going to dump all the games I have onto the drive especially if online play works. In fact if everything works fine i'll never run anything from the disc again lol.

I am quite curios about the filesystem(WBS - maybe as in "Wii Backup System" ?) waninkoko is talking about. I wonder why he accepted all the work instead of implement an linux filesystem ext2 or the like. That would have had the advantage of compability with a PC system. At least for Linux users. Now we all have to format our usb disc, or am I missing something?

The way I understand it, if you want to add a backup to your filesystem you have to rip it on the wii. Maybe waninkoko has a tool to copy images to the filesystem on a PC. Maybe even over network...

Speaking of which: If USB - booting is possible, is there a reason that... for example samba share booting would not be possible? 100Mbps should be enough compared to DVD 6x (66.48Mbps). Not to sound ungrateful for an usb iso loader, but it should be possible, right? Thinking about that reminds me, that if it's possible it has been possible all the time...

Don't hate me, if I'm wrong!

I was wondering that too. If you can only put a new game on HDD on the wii itself, you would still need a disc with the game on it. So I guess there must a PC application too.

does anyone else keep coming back to gbatemp every 5 mins waiting for the release? It's like staring at a clock, time just seems to be slowing down.... I think I'll just sleep all day so when I wake up there might be an update, kinda reminds me of christmas...

I just realized that I really am. Every time I switch over to this tab, I find myself pushing refresh, looking for a new post in a USB ISO Loader-related thread. xD

A proper ISO loader should definately support ext2 at the least, because it's free and stable and there are very good drivers both for Windows and Mac (and Linux of course).

ext2 for windows:
http://www.fsdriver.org

ext2 for mac:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsx/

It also works with ext3 due to downwards compability.
