Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures, 3D Thunder Blade, Steamworld Dig, Samurai Defender, and Mario vs Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, are games that force you to update to 9.0.0U if you're running a firmware under 9.0.0U so what I was thinking was if I could spoof the 3ds into thinking it's running a lower firmware then 9.0.0U when it tries to boot one of these games it'll prompt you to "update" and it would downgrade your firmware to 9.0.0U so I was wondering if I could maybe get a romfs of a home menu that is from a 3ds that is running a firmware under 9.0.0U to trick the 3ds into thinking it running a earlier firmware. I'm hoping I can use this to downgrade people's 3ds' firmware to make the 3ds compatible with things like Ninjhax 1.0 and Gateway 3DS. If the romfs of the home menu could be decrypted in advance that would be amazing!! This is just an idea I have no clue if it'll work!

I need a minute.

Okay, so you can just update to 9.2 and use various exploits there. That, or else just run an up-to-date emuNAND and don't have to worry about spoofing or anything at all.

what would be the issue for this not to work?
There's so many reasons why this won't work, one example is that the system it self will check the update if it's a higher version, meaning you can't downgrade since your system had a higher version than it

You're asking if you can downgrade a 9.3+ 3ds by trying to install an older firmware update, correct?
It's a bit hard to tell what you're asking based on the lack of text formatting, but if that's what you're asking it's obviously impossible.

what I was thinking for people who are running firmware later then 9.2 they could spoof their firmware to trick the 3ds into thinking it's running a earlier firmware then 9.0.0U so when you lunch one of the games listed above it'll prompt you to "update" your 3ds this would in theory downgrade your 3ds to 9.0.0U (a firmware that can be used with gateway) sorry but I'm kinda new to GBATemp :/

Yeah, no. If it was that simple we would have had it figured out day one.

Do you have any experience in 3ds Homebrew development? That's not how it works, you can't spoof your system it's on a lower firmware to update, the system will reject it

The home menu isn't just like any regular game. It doesn't have a romfs that can be modified like games and some other apps do.

Old, I've asked the same question nearly 2 years ago. Otherwise gateway would've posted a solution long time ago but no, its not possible.
