So I was thinking about Smash and then Pokemon and I started to wonder, can the Switch connect with a 3DS? The Wii U could connect with a 3DS for Super Smash Bros, allowing us to use the 3DS as a controller and to transfer custom fighters. I wouldn't expect to be able to transfer fighters considering the Switch Smash Bros appears to be a different game than the Wii U and 3DS versions before it, however I would think that if capable, the 3DS could be connected to the new Smash to be used as a controller again (even though I'm not much a fan of this control scheme, the more controller options I have, the easier I'll be able to hold 8 player smash games). Beyond that, Pokemon on the Switch could certainly benefit if it could connect to any of the 3DS Pokemon games so that you can transfer your previously caught Pokemon to the latest game. I understand we have the Pokemon Bank, but it'd be nice to have the option to trade up from the previous gen still if you don't want to pay for the Pokemon Bank service, though the Bank really makes me doubtful that we'll ever see that to transfer directly between the newer games again.
Thing is though, it seems like the architecture of these systems are considerably different and I'm completely unsure if a Switch and 3DS could connect, does anyone have any insight whether that would even be possible?
