ps vita is literally a better psp AND it's own console at the same time ( better cuz you can add second analog stick support for PSP games ), not to mention amazing games you can emulate outside psp, and ps1 games ( you can make your own ISO file out of almost any ps1 title).

so with that in mind, prioritize getting vita if you can, since it's objectively better, but if you come across psp for cheap ( except for psp street model ), it's absolutely worth to get one.

Is there something wrong with that aside from the lack of wifi? I would think that wouldn't be so bad since you can still transfer files over USB – though I suppose trying to find Sony's proprietary cables might be frustrating.

Only have one speaker also can't run infinity cfw so a bit anoying.
All PSP models don't support WAP2 wifi so getting any model online is a small inconvenience, but you don't really need wifi anyway
But if you get it really cheap go for it. I would say that about any PSP model really. Vita is definitely better, but expensive. I have gotten PSPs for 10 bucks.

It's been a while, but isn't that just a matter of running exactly one program from the internal memory?
Nvm, just checked and infinite cfw can be run on street. so only difference between regular psp ( not go ) and street would be no wifi, no stereo, no video out, and replacing battery is tougher on street. if you're okay with those compromises, then street is fine.
but then again, psp's have gotten really cheap lately, so you won't save much (if anything at all) by buying street over psp 2000 or 3000 (avoid 1000, its most prone to hardware failure and has worse screen), so why not have stereo and video out, you never know when you might need them.

they need to have a strong line up on the launch titles too. I think they should move metroid prime 4 to the next console because by now it has been quite a while and there's no release date scheduled yet

well as far as metroid prime 4 is concerned, the next system probably is similar enough to the current gen they can probably easily just slap it onto a next gen cart and call it good :P
