so the DSi XL is out .
the not official named 3DS is coming out some time .

i've been thinking about getting a DSi ,
then replacing it with the Kingdom Hearts DSi replacement kit .
it'd be cool to have the Ace Attorney DSi, but i can't seem to find the replacement case for this one ...

anyway, it's $150 new at pretty much all stores that even sell the DSi. if i check eBay or Kijiji or Craigslist, i could probably find it used, but my parents would most likely say no .
maybe even eBay could have a cheaper , new DSi.

so yeah, yes or no to buying one ?
maybe wait for Christmas too since im not in a rush ?

EDIT: any differences between the DSi and DSi XL other than screen difference?
more durable, less prone to having a broken hinge ...?

OH one more thing .
did i forget to mention,
i got 2 DS Lites, but one of em needs a replacement case while the other is on the verge of needing a replacement case . both because the case is cracking [the part covering the hinge].
i am planning on buying A replacement case for my DS , then maybe leaving the one that is about to break alone till it actually does break. then i will get another replacement case .

hmm...
my 1st one, not really . i was really care free, it dropped probably 5 -> 10 times . then eventually, after over use, the case just cracked on the hinge area. and it is bare . also, after dropping it, the L button is pretty much dead AND the R button is really complicated to use ...

now when i got this 2nd one, it was really cheap. but the condition was already bad , and the case was on the verge of breaking so no stopping it now .

None of my DS's had a broken hinge O.o
Just the shoulder buttons...

Anyways, the DSi isn't that worth it if you don't like the DSiWare, camera and stuff.
Buy the DSiXL cause of the big screen

For 1 thing, the 3DS is the confirmed name.
2nd, only get the DSi if you want some sort of DS and don't already have one.
3rd, it is NOT worth getting if you already have a DS Lite. Not sure about Phat, though.

Exceptions: My DS Lite's top screen was broken, and I wanted my DS games NAO!

I'll say repair those DS Lite with replacement cases. Since you are prong to drop them get silicone cases as well. Alternatively get DSi XL. Don't settle for a regular DSi.

DSi XL is more durable than DSi and consume less battery power. In terms of durability I'll say

DSi XL > DS Phat > DSi > DS Lite.

I hate ordering stuff online if I can go buy it somewhere close to me, and everywhere anymore will give you a discount only if you order it online, bs. Should be a discount if I go pick it up, not order online.

I love it for most things most stores you just shows the receipt online and they scan it

Makes it easy for incompetent restaurant staff that don't know how to hear an order
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Mostly for big purchases, I want it in my hands before I pay. Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc) But yea if I can order online, then pickup at store is ok, but not all places offer that.

Thing is, if you break it driving back to your house, it's your fault. But if the delivery driver damages it, it's not your fault.

Most people that haul big tvs have empty trucks or know enough not to set it face down
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Then I gotta send it back and wait another week or two. I have a pickup truck, with a extended cab, so no prob for me.

Most manufacturers pack it well enough where they aren't that dumb to let it happen
