Hacking is removing the boot9strap folder safe?

after istalling boot9strap (the folder that contains the boot9strap.firm/firm.sha files) is it safe to remove it? 3ds.guide showed an example of what the sd card should look like without the extra files and there seems to be the boot9strap file removed.
