I might never get one myself but have been curious for a while now, those in the know is there a way to hack the PSX and make it region free and change it to English?

    I'm not talking about PS1.

I looked up "PSX Chips" and all I saw was PS1 chips.

    This is PSX:

No mods for PSX exist - there was effort to get Free McBoot working on it but I don't think it went anywhere. Check Assemblergames - that was where it all happened iirc.

I sometimes get mixed up with the "lingo" with old PlayStation models. Man, there's the Original PlayStation, PS1 (PSOne), and PSX. I went into a retro game shop and mistakenly asked how much a "PS1" was going for, but I wanted to inquire about the Original PlayStation.

You can prepare a Free McBoot memory card and use it on it. but the access to the internal HDD is limited.
If you want to acquire one to use it you'll be better off getting a SCPH-500xx or lower PS2 and the network adapter to install an internal HDD and FreeHDBoot.

    EDIT: Source
