the wii was pretty much hacked within a year
the only reason the wiiu took so long to get hacked was well it was SHIT and hackers weren't interested in it (especially with no games :P)

If this is in the wrong section, I apologize.

Is Nintendo's system and tactics of securing piracy free consoles poor and just plain bad?
Every modern Nintendo Console and handheld has been hacked and used to run exploits, and backed up games. If I remember correctly, the 360 systems were nearly impenetrable. Only being able to run backups and Homebrew through hardmods. The Wii U, 3DS, and Wii don't even require hardmods to hack.

So is Nintendo's security awful? Why don't they just use the same system of security that Microsoft used?
To be fair, the PS2 and PS3 can also be easily hacked without opening anything up, and that was released around the same time as the 360 and Wii. But seeing as time was moved forward, and we're more advanced, it makes me wonder how Nintendo hasn't found a way to lock users from exploiting their consoles.

What did make Microsoft's security so good?
As far a I know, it is impossible to play Xbox and Xbox 360 games on the PC. Same goes for PS3 games.
And yet, we have Dolphin and Cemu. What is going on with Nintendo?
It seems that they try so hard to stop this kind of thing, and yet other Consoles have better security than they do.

Again, for the original Xbox, you need a convoluted setup to run CFW and play backups. Years later, we are able to do the same thing with Nintendo consoles without physical tools. Well, depending of FW.
So... if Nintendo upgraded their means of closing off hackers, how would they go about doing so, and why haven't they yet?

Is Nintendo's security really as bad as it seems?
Thing is, the Switch hack that was found is a Hardware flaw of the Tegra X1 (nVidia) which is practically stock from nVidia without changes. Thus the fault on the flaw is nVidia's not Nintendo's.
Similar with the flaw that was found with the Desktop CPU's that allow hackers access to the Kernel which is a Hardware flaw. (On AMD you need to be physically present to perform said hack, while on Intel a remote one can be done)

Well, according to themselves, they give no fucks about security IN their software, seeing as how they gimped the console to avoid security holes.

I can't take a developer seriously who provides less of a complete product because they are scared of getting their shit hacked.

actually, I think sony's security may be the worst of all three. you still don't even need to verify your using a playstation to download content, even on the ps4. you do with the xbox and the switch. remember, fuck psn. the fact that you could sign in to psn with a console id of all 0s? or the fact that people on hacked ps3s could add money to their wallets? and, that's just for starters. don't forget about the psn data breach, one of the largest in world history.

People used to zerofill their IDPS(e.g. F*ckPSN) to avoid console ban or to return on PSN with a banned console. This method was patched by Sony though.
