Hey guys
cool.gif
,

I was wondering......Is it possible to make a sega dreamcast emulator on the wii. I heard some people saying that the dreamcast is more powerful than the wii. So can it be possible?

The Dreamcast definitly isn't more powerful than the Wii, however I think in order to have any emulator even a chance to work, the console that acts as the emulator must be at least 3x as powerful as the console it's emulating.

I personally think it's impossible to do.

i'd say no, even the best dreamcast emulators only work at their best if you have an amazing pc, i'd expect first release wii64 speeds to be the maximum on the wii (aka just a few fps and thats the best we'd ever get it)

lol gameking, as Deadly said its probably POSSIBLE, but to get it working anywhere near playable? very much doubtful to say the least. Gameking do me a favor, download a dreamcast emulator and try to play a game you enjoy, and see how much fun it is
tongue.gif
you need a very good computer to even play SOME games (not all) at playable speeds

This

There was even an attempt to emulate ps2 but it was awfully slow it was never released, so to answer your question yes its possible.

Is it worth coding something that will barely work? No

Best bet is to just buy a dreamcast. I'm sure that you can find one floating around pretty cheap and games are still pretty easy to find. Im glad that i still have my launch console. A good dc emu with out a good pc is just not happening right now.

Yeahh i will. i should find one under 60 bucks.

Last time they sold they here in the US they went for $69.99 new. That was at the end of things when they were just selling them off, but i'm sure that you can get one for much less then $60 used. A friend of mine bought one on ebay not to long ago for $25.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
