Gaming Is it possible to update .xci game using .nsp update

Hi, I'm looking for Mario Kart 8 .XCI update but without any luck. I have .nsp upate available.
I am running SX OS and wondering if .xci game can be updated using .nsp update? Any gotchas/issues?

Updates are only in NSP. XCI is only a copy of cartridge.

Just have to make sure that update was made for the cart version of the game and it will update fine.

But most games shares the same titleid for cartridge and eshop release in the same region. So your statement may confuse someone.

so how can I confirm if the update was made for the cart version?

XCI Explorer can check titleid of NSP and XCI files.
If they have first 13 characters the same, then they are compatible.

Check under Updates on the HBG and if they show up, then the're compatible.

At least, that's my understanding, and so far I haven't had any issues updating games that I original installed with a XCI file.
