It may sound very very stupid, but i have some experience, and would like to try to make a sky3ds. It will probably look like a large circuit board dangling off of my 3ds, but its better than nothing. All i want to know is if this is possible which it must be, since there are clones of sky3ds. and what are all the parts i may need, or where can i find what parts i need. Also maybe something to help me put it together correctly, would be good. The goal is to make a temporary flashcart that is cheap and can be used until gateway releases an update. Plus this seems like a cool project.

Is anybody there?

Cheap...?

FPGA development tools are not cheap--at least, not cheaper than a mass-manufactured flash cart. http://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Catalog.cfm?NavPath=2,400&Cat=10&FPGA is a decent first approximation of the range you'd be looking at. A hint: it probably wasn't developed on a CoolRunner-II.

That doesn't even begin to consider the cost of other tools, several iterations of custom PCB's, manual labor costs, or engineering costs.

Even at minimum wage, I'd expect a year of labor would earn you enough money to just buy a flash cart.

Making your own--if anybody could even do it--would most certainly not be a way to save.

Browse thru those two photo sets, that will get you a rough idea of the amount of work needed, and that is just the wiring, technical side, not the software or understanding of info captured.

And then noticed that those two photo sets are for the old-school DSi, for the 3DS multiply the work by at least ten times, and then add in some major funds for commercial decapping if you wish to do New 3DS and zero-exploit Sky3DS operation.

Good Luck...

actually, it's impossible to create a sky3ds.
it is physically and even conceptually impossible in our universe.
how it was sold online i do not know - but soon the intergalactic police will round up all the sky3ds carts and destroy them.

Lol.... if it was so cheap and easy don't you think everyone would do it?

It's not as easy as it seem. Your have to find out what chips are on the sky3ds (meaning your need one)
Your also need to caught it's code (meaning your need one)
Then you gotta put it all together and hope you did all the steps they did.
Your have to order and wait for all the parts to come in before you could even start.

So I just see a ton of fail in this thread.

Suck it up and buy one or go cry in the conner.
Lol...

I don't know about you guys, but I think the real value to be found in this thread is the hardware porn garyopa dropped for us, that shit got me harder than PornMD ever could.

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar

    nope
