Gaming Is it a good idea to buy the Xbox 360 now or I should wait?

You really need to ask for sure whether the 360 is JTAG hacked or just DVD firmware hacked.

If the 360 is just DVD drive hacked you can buy all the DLC you want until the 360 gets banned, which you can almost be guaranteed it will within a few months to a year or so. If it is JTAG hacked, never take it online for anything, ever. But that's OK because you can pirate all the DLC you want.

I read somewhere on the Internet that if the Xbox 360 was created before the year 2007, the probabilities of it to die with the Red Ring of Death is about 50%! Oh my God, but that newest models, like the 2008 models, have less probability of that. Is this true?

So, could you guys tell me what model is better to get? Because what about if my friend's Xbox model if the 2007 one, or older; so, I should not buy it right? I should make sure the model is the 2008 one or newer? or Which ones have more possibility of dying soon? How do I know? Too many questions I know, but I really want to know all of this haha

Yes older models were worse
Newer models are well known to RROD as well (or suffer from similar failure mechanisms) although what stats we have say they are more reliable (bear in mind however it could be argued that the newer models are newer and thus have not had much chance to RROD just yet).
What percentage is a matter for debate, suffice it to say it is way higher than any consumer goods should ever be though for every single model produced thus far.

Thanks, but could you guys tell me somehing like, "If it is a November 2007 model or older, Don't buy it!," or something like that please, I think that maybe tomorrow I will buy the console to my friend, but please tell me what year model it should be at least, something like, "Make sure it is a June 2008 model or higher," Thank you

It is not so much that people are ignoring it but that it would be unwise to call it.

How I would call it
Any DVD drive can be hacked so go for the newer ones if you want that.

A JTAG 360 on the other hand is a valuable thing indeed and if you are just coming into the market for a 360 I would not pass one up.
