basically, high school is as hard as you make it for yourself. however, make sure you do live every moment of high school.

Lots of advice, but I'll throw in my 2 cents as well.
So I underachieved throughout all of high school.
Took one honors class and one AP class in all 4 years I was there.
Honors sucked, AP class was AP Computer Science
(Which I think I got a 4 on for the AP test)
But it all depends on what you put into it.
Join some clubs, sports, whatever and make it fun.
If you're gonna be an overachiever prepare for homework and pretty difficult tests.
If you're gonna be an underachiever, hey, may as well have some fun with it.
I got into a decent college while being an underachiever,
Though to be honest it's not the best, I don't really care.

Just pay attention in class. Take necessary notes of terms or formulas you don't understand clearly. Also don't hesitate to ask for clarification. Sure other immature kids may laugh at you for not understanding but really, people who never ask question to clear thing up is bound to have a difficult year (if they care that is...).

Just hang in there and keep yourself organize. Take things one at a time. And be sure you know your priorities. Oh and good luck!

This. I'm going into grade 10 the day after tom.

Last year, when i was about to go into grade 9 i was pretty freaked out too. Mainly because it was a completely new school and i had no one from my old school. It's an IB school

. So yea, once you start going to school, it's fine, you feel much more mature in high-school because your aloud to make your own decisions. It's pretty easy and fun, you can talk to most of your teachers openly, and then the hard ones you can make fun of with your friends, which are really easy to make (friends).

Yeah and the exams are hyped up way too much. You'll keep hearing your teachers talk about the exams and how important they are, but their really not that hard, there just a little bit longer than the rest of your tests. And aslong as you've been doing your work, you won't need to study a lot for your exams, just review over everything. So don't stress over the exams, its not worth it.

So don't worry, you'll most probably have fun in high-school, get to make your decisions and what not.

any other useful DS homebrew for school ? seriously, don't give me past time games, i want actual things like that calculator homebrew xD.
im not sure if the teachers will just let you use a DS as a calculator
its like someone using a cell phone as one, they dont allow it on tests or anything or during class since you can text and play games ect...
also some early stage classes wernt allowed graphing calculators because they could find zeros of a functions very easily and your supposed/learn to do that by hand

High school was a miserable experience for me. If I could do it over with my nasal problems fixed, I bet I would have been hugely successful. The depression, paranoia, etc. It was crippling. And in the end, I failed and had to get a G.E.D. But now that I can NOSE BREATHE, the paranoia and depression have simply vanished from my life in an instant.

Lol my Asian buddy had Physics, Chemistry, Calculus and some other class in Grade 12.
Of those 3, Physics was apparently the hardest by far.

I forget what Physics is actually about, but apparently if you have the right mind for it...it's super simple.
Kinda like Chem, how it's the hardest fucking class ever, unless memorizing formulas gives you a boner. >_>
I think Physics also deals with a lot of formulas, but I could be wrong.
Physics is the study of how our universe behaves. From stars, to planets. From atoms, to theoretical quarks.

You can't prove anything in physics without mathematics.

lols . graphic calculators are for cheaters

and yeh , i can see that though . like i said , the teacher would probably not allow me to use my DS since it is an electronic . they'll say , get a real calculator . same thing goes for saying , can i use my phone as a watch, just get a real watch .

O_O . physics vs chemistry vs calculus . if i had all those subjects in one semester , i would die . i'd tell my guidance counseller to mix up my classes to make it easier ... physics sounds really intense ... just from what FEFL said xD.

Honestly? I hated my years in secondry school. I was bullied and manipulated like fuck. Sure i met a few good people through it (2) and really only had 1 teacher who believed in me by the end of it but here's my tips:

1. Don't go looking for trouble.
2. Get into hobbies others are in.
3. Don't try and be a smartass about everything, no one likes that.
4. Mix with everyone, sure there's gonna be dicks but don't let them bring you down.

I prefer college and work so much more simply because no one makes any trouble for me there.

Yeah teachers matter quite a bit...
Oh how I loved Grade 10 science where my teacher was too busy zapping kids and making fun of the Japanese exchange student to teach us anything.
We were two entire chapters behind what we needed to know going into the provincial exam.
Worst. Fucking. Teacher. Ever.
Technically we were 1 chapter behind, because he assigned us to do an entire chapter ourselves, and then hand in all the work the next day, and then do a test on it all. While he went skiing that day.
I 1-uped him though. I just took my buddies science book, because he had a REAL science teacher, and the substitute teacher didn't know better and gave me 100% for the work...and I don't think ANYONE go anything more than 50%.
Then everyone flopped the test and he decided to not count it for marks. Just the work. Lulz.

...yeah

Oh god being a freshman sucks. It consists of hiding in hallways to avoid the seniors that sometimes go around dunking nubs in trashcans or toilets.

It's quite fun though after that, have fun!

I didn't find the transition to HS hard. The exams are nothing to worry about.

But that's just me. I usually cruise through the exams. But the provincials this year will be harder.

Edit: I go to private school. I wasn't aware that hallways are a battlefield in normal HS, as everyone else is saying.

OH ! question ,
does getting Ninered exist ?

Depends on the school.
There are...3 that I can name around here.
My school, no. My school was rather pacifistic in nature, and most assholes stuck with bullying people in their own grade. Hell, chances are if you get bullied someone will immediately kick the bullies ass. God scaring bullies is fun. I had more then my fair share of doing it.
The other two were horrible. One was a rich kid school, rich kids are assholes to begin with, so having them in a "higher power" school position wise didn't equate well.
The other was a ghetto...to say the least. Again, lots of fighting, grade 8's treated like shit. All that good stuff.

But chances are, in Canada, you'll be fine.

Wow... I had no idea some people were so young on this site.

I'm going to be a Senior this year, and high school is a joke. I guess you can consider me an average-above average student, and I go to a pretty competitive public school (New Jersey).

Personally, I love school. It's more fun than work.

Highschool is essentially daycare for teenagers. You can find friends that will stick with you for decades, but it's also a place where it wouldn't matter if you didn't.
