I recently read a thread were some users where discussing if using all the means they had to win a competitive game was acceptable or not, a good example of that is the "Snaking" on Mario Kart DS or L-canceling on Super Smash Bros Melee.
While these are available techniques included in the games, they can be abused to achieve a massive advantage and leave the other players biting the dust, specially if you are playing with people that don't play said game that often or simply don't have the skill needed to use the techniques.
I also need to made a separate mention to exploitable glitches like Mario Kart 7 Maka Wuhu/Wuhu Loop shortcuts and Wavedashing on Super Smash Bros Melee, is available for everyone to use but aside from the difficulty, practice and skill it's a glitch.
Do you think that players should use such advanced techniques used every time they can or just reserve them for serious matches with skilled enough people??
If you ask me, I think using advanced techniques to crush your opponents just because you can isn't very nice and spoils the fun for them. I usually go easy(or test new strategies) with my friends if they aren't experienced.
