Not needed with native patch support.
Hmm is there a thread or something that I can read up on regarding this?

I think he means patching extracted roms and load them with Gateway (after repacking them).
Huntereb, is this what you mean? I'm really talking about a non-flashcart solution. A homebrew app with the possibility of loading matching files from the SD card, rather than loading the actual files from the game cartridge's romfs.
With the Ninjhax homebrew launcher, is something like this feasible? I know we can't load ROMs, but loading replacement romfs files for our cartridge or downloaded eShop games would be pretty neat. Excuse my ignorance on the subject.
No. Not with ninjahax atleast. I asked smealum about it some time aga, but he said it would require kernel access.
There has been something like this, it's called patchrom but it's only for Gateway users.
I think he means something that could patch all the files automatically for you, riivolution was faster - even though ISO modification was possible on the wii
Patches installed via CIA are what makes a "3iivolution" worthless.

The point would be to avoid installing or patching anything. It's not modifying the original romfs, but dynamically loading different files instead of the originals. It simplifies testing any changes, since we would just need to replace a file on the SD card, so it wouldn't be "worthless."
That's what game patches do. They load data from the patch file instead of the game itself. No modifications are made to the original game in any way.
