I'm thinking of starting my own IRC server, so people from my college and others can connect in class and whatnot. However, I don't know which server program I should use, or how to use it. I tried using JoinMe and an mIRC NickServ bot client, but that flopped. The server worked fine, but the NickServ bot didn't.
What are my options for starting an IRC server? I'm looking for free (or "free") programs only, and the simpler to set up and use the better.
