Any predictions? Are you gonna get one? Camera(s)/Retina Display?

Since I have a 1G iPod Touch, I'll definitely be getting the new one

I think the camera's a safe bet. And it'll definitely have that Retina display, considering Apple's putting it in everything now (and for good reason... It's wonderful!)

I do wonder if there will be any other notable features, though. If not, I don't know if it'll be worth the purchase. In my opinion, at least.

I still don't know about it having a camera...
The reason for it not being on the 3G was to keep a reason to get an iPhone.
I expect the a4 chip and retina display though.

A4, 512 MB of RAM, Retina display (LED-backlit IPS display, of course), and a VGA camera (for FaceTime) are definite.

Gyroscope and 802.11n support would be a safe bet too (though I suspect 802.11n be limited to the 2.4 GHz band, like the iPhone 4). I predict capacities for the price points to remain the same ($299 for 32 GB, $$399 for 64 GB). And also... the iPod touch 4G will probably run iOS 4.1.1.

I'm skeptical on a rear-facing camera, since it would require a thicker casing and Apple's notorious for slimming down, not fattening up. (Third party cases don't prove anything.) Same goes for AppleInsider's 3G claims; FFS, a 3G-equipped iPod touch is called an iPhone.

Just wait until the ipod touch 5g comes out next year, with what, a 3D screen? This is Apple's game. Not to make the ipods upgradable, but release a new one every year so you buy each one, which means $$. Same goes for iPad and iPhone. It's their strategy and it is working. On top of that, they are blocking jailbreaks.

i might buy it if:

1) it has a lot of new features (3g, camera, faster, voice control on 8gb, etc...)
2) it can be jailbroken
3) it has a longer lasting battery!!! only 4 hours for games is crap.

I disagree on the camera front. I'd say it most likely will (I believe a recent update added the ability to use FaceTime with an email address instead of a phone number, why else would that be there but for iPod Touch compatibility?). I think the reason for it not being in the 3rd Gen was that there was a hiccup with the cameras at the last minute. There was a gap in the internals for the camera. A4 chip is definite though IMO

3G may not be so far fetched, its on the iPad. And it'd work with the FaceTime rumors.

I'm hyped for this! I've aited so long for this, I could afford a 3g iPod Touch but I've still waited 5 months for this one to come out!
I wanted to get it yesterday, but it it isn't at one of my local stores yet, the worker said it would come on the 15th, a few minutes ago I checked their website and it was already delayed to the 23th!
