the other day my friend get an ipod nano 4 gig 3rd gen and didnt really use it. about two days later he comes to me and says that he needs help getting rid of the password because when he first got it from someone else, he didnt know there was a password lock on it. i looked up how to do this and i saw that if i find the _locked file or something like that, it would tell me the password but i got a bunch of random symbols and i cant restore it on my computer either because it will put my music on there and it just so happens that we dont like the same music

so what else can i do? oh and he gave me until tomorrow to do it too

I'm pretty sure restoring will fix it. Just restore it on yours, and if iTunes puts your music on, just delete it, say, "here, I got the password off," and he can put his own music on.
