I don't even know what those are :(
They are Linux based (Android uses Linux Kernel too, but these are mainline Linux distros like Ubuntu, Manjaro) open source phones. They aren't as powerful as the new flagships (Pine64 having 2 GB of RAM) but I don't do play games that much, so it doesn't matter for me.

Since my dumbphone gave up the ghost and I had Android phones lying around (=not having to buy and got some others dirt cheap), I now use one now despite not liking it for the reason @IC_ mentioned. We don't really own a phone with Android after purchase (iOS is a lot worse missing the possibility to load software other than from the official store).

That said, while I'm technically Android user (and have done quite a bit of learning and experiments) my phone is just for emergency purposes (car breakdown). No mobile data, no gazillion of apps and for the peace of mind I have LineageOS 17.1 with Magisk… which means it feels like actually owning the phone.

@WiiMiiSwitch you decide if this makes me eligible for clicking on "Android" in your poll (maybe you could add the option "Others").

Iphones are overpriced
I disagree. This was once the case for sure, but at this point iPhones are no more expensive than any other flagship Android device, especially for the hardware provided (say what you want about some things, but their mobile SoCs are actually really good). For example, the latest iPhone 12's MSRP starts at only $799, the same as something like the Galaxy S21 or the Oneplus 8 Pro/8T, and they started offering cheaper devices as well like the 12 mini which is $699, or the very budget friendly SE which is only $399.

There are certainly plenty of "good" Android devices that are less expensive than that, but I wouldn't go so far as to say iPhones are out of the ballpark expensive as they used to be a few years back.

As to the poll, Android always, been using it for over a decade and don't ever plan on swapping anytime soon. But if open source phones actually become good I might consider swapping at that point.

well, i never had an iphone, so i don't knwo about that os,
i did have a ipod touch gen I and gen III ttho, they were pretty good for music etc.

since owning my new andriod device, redmi note 8 pro that i got in august last year,
it was rather nice and easy to use not to menchion all those nice free emulators that you can use,
N64, Sega saturn, dreamcast, Gamecube/wii and retroarch (now retroarch plus).

and the best part is that they are all firee! no need to pay for any of them (expcet maybe the front end like reset colletion or dig's premuim
feastures).

for this sole reason, andriod for me is boss.

Both are an excellent smart phones. Those have both pros and cons. No mobiles are the best at all. They are great for different reasons. I have both for the different reasons.

No votes. I vote both.

Many would go to Android but they dont know what they are talking about. BOTH are great mobiles, period. Pro and Cons for both anyway. SMH.

Last edited by spotanjo3,
I used to own iPhone but got sick of the limitations put on them. Phone and their accessories are way overpriced. I've been with Samsung for years now and very happy. Just upgraded from galaxy S8+ to the new galaxy s21+. World's apart. Just wish there was 5g around me.

I use both Android and iPhone, I tend to prefer iPhones for my daily driver because they just fit my needs for a daily driver. I am not looking to carry a project phone with me during my day to day life. I have Android phones and devices that I use for projects and other fun stuff.

iOS by far, even with a few limitations I wish it didnt have.

Iphones are overpriced locked down status symbol devices

If you want a phone that says "I'm basic" have I got you covered
I see Samsungs marketing is quite effective with you.

I have used both at the same time (Tablet, Phone). I like Android's more open sourced nature. Rooting/Jailbreaking is infinitely easier on Android, naturally. However, I like the look of iOS more. Personally, I'm using an iPhone 11 Pro Max because I got it for free, lol.

Samsung is fairly overpriced hype too. There are more android phones beyond samsung (and in fact I have never owned one of their devices).
