Ok, I've been given an iPhone 4. It has a cracked LCD so half the screen doesn't show. Also no matter what SIM card is put in, it shows No service. What she wants (and I'm trying to do) is to get it working again as a normal phone. Screen - the touchscreen works and the software works, but from the top right corner to the bottom left corner and below, I can't see anything. It only needs a replacement LCD. Software - from what I've been able to see, it looks like its on firmware 18.104.22.168. Carrier - its currently got a 3 SIM in it. I don't know what it was on originally, but we tried a local phone unlocking shop and they say it won't work no matter what network SIM they put in it. It either says No SIM or No Service. Currently showing No Service. I've tried a manual search for carriers and 4 show up, so I know the antenna works, but trying to connect just says something about a restricted network, and I can't see most of the message. Ideally she wants to put it on GiffGaff (don't ask), but she doesn't mind if she is stuck with 3. I've got it for 3 days to try and fix it. When I get home I'll try iTunes to see if restoring or jail breaking works. I've also considered sending it off to Apple to see if I can get them to replace it for me, but I know that'll cost £120. We just want to see what we can do to fix it with what we have. So... Any suggestions/ideas/advice?
