Apple iPhone 4 Boot Loop

Okay here is the story...
my iPhone for had iOS 4.1 (Well what ever one was before iOS 4.2.1) It was jailbroken. i decided I wanted to update to iOS 4.2.1. (Note: Update, not Restore). It all seemed to go well. until the end, I got an error. And my phone wouldnt boot. Now in continuously goes into either recovery mode. or keeps rebooting.
I have tried:
restoring again.
restoring through DFU
Waiting
Kicking out of recovery methods (such as Tiny Umbrella)
I have tried everything I could think of...
But its just the same thing. It is only 9 days old...
I'm scared.

Ah that sucs dude, the reason why I'm not jailbreaking my 1 day old iPhone

Anyway, don't know if it works, but it should.. Have you tried to just jailbreak it again?

You should try different computer, that helped me

I messed mine up a bit ago too, I just kept trying edu mode and restoring to a older firmware which I had stored on my pc and eventually it worked.
I was also very worried when it happened

The problem is that you used a tethered Jailbreak. That means every time you reboot the iphone, it goes into Recovery mode. You have to hook it up to the computer and re-break the phone.

So far there is no way to have an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1.

Just re-jailbreak your iphone and keep it on. Standby counts as still being on, but sleeping.

Clear your browsers cache.
Download the FW from felix bruns.
Restore.
If that doesn't work use iREB to fix recovery loops. Get it from ih8snow.com

Thanks guys, this is what I did.
I waited all night for the 4.1 firmware to download. I tried to restore to the 4.2.1 formware again so I could get the stable recovery mode and then from there I restored back to 4.1. It went into recovery mode, and I got so worried, luckily I tried to kick it out of recovery mode from there, and it worked. Its fine now.
