Well in Fail's case, they were just terrified of piracy.

They were NOT terrified of piracy. That is incorrect. (Remember,They took on Sony)
They didn't want to help for-profit pirates. Early on, They never believe that those claiming a working ode had anything more than sectors fished out of ram to make dumps. And that those for-profit pirates were waiting on a free fix/exploit to turn into cash.

I thought I read one of them say that. I wonder what update patched it. If someone has a Wii U with a version that is vulnerable then maybe Come would be cool and give it to Marionumber1 or others? Anyone consider this? Or get it to analyze at the very least.
No one will consider this, coz must be a day one console, never updated, plus fOf team never released the exploit even when it was patched, so it's useless.
The only thing you can do is to wait NW and Mario complete the kernel exploit, wait again and have hope that they could find and IOSU access (or another hacker that will use their exploit). Or at least, but near to impossibile, you have to prey that fof team will decide to hack the console and in 1 month you will have your softmod

Excuse me? Day one was 1.0.3 but the web browser which comex used wasn't added until 2.0.0? Then came the "stability improvements" in 2.1.0 and 2.1.3. It would be interesting to know at what level the IOSU patch was implemented.

You are correct SirByte! :P. Many people falsely assume that comex found the IOSU exploit on the day one firmware, but as stated in f0f's chao's computing conference presentation, that exploit was discovered in a later firmware. Care to chime in on this comex?
