This explains why the iPod touch looked different in the iTunes 9.2 update.

Might as well update, I don't care if it removes my jailbreak, I only ever used that to put a background on the springboard, which Ios 4 features now.

Edit: Oh, they let you gift Apps now? Interesting...

Well trying the multi-tasking, by double-clicking the home button, and I can't really call it true multi-tasking.
If anything, it's nothing more than a quick-launch list, of 4 recently used apps. If I'm in the middle of a game and switch to another app, it'll have to reboot the game. Still useful and convenient, but not true multi-tasking.

Well I'm only using an iPod touch 3G here, so it might be different for the newer iPhone models.

There's actually quite a fair bit to the new "multi-tasker"

First off, when you double click home you get your four most recently used apps.

If you swipe left, you'll see there's more recently used apps.

If you swipe right, you'll find music controls.

Here you can control your music at any time, as well as see the current track title. Importantly you can also lock orientation, at last. Edit: It appears it will only lock to vertical orientation, you cannot set it horizontally and lock it, it reverts to an upright orientation.

You can also manage your recent apps like on the springboard, press down to rearrange or remove them.

By the way, it seems a new version of redsn0w that lets you jailbreak iOS4 is already out.

Take this with a pinch of salt, as I'm still pretty new to the iPhone scene and I still don't know how a lot of things work

Things will change as soon as I'll get an iPhone 4

As far as I know, redsn0w is a tethered jailbreak. Oh well, it'll suffice for now, but I seriously do hope that comex will bring out a new version of Spirit for iOS4

Once Spirit/Blackra1n/other Windows app is released to jailbreak iOS 4 and enable multitasking for my iPT 2G then I'll be good to go. Otherwise, this isn't anything my already jailbroken 3.1.3 iPT can't do. Already got categories. Already got wallpapers. Already got multitasking. Anything else?

I fucking hate apple

First I had to update iTunes to update my iPhone, take took some time and required a full PC restart

Next instead of just installing the new firmware, turns out everything need to be backed up (apps, photos, music, videos etc) then the firmware was to be installed then everything was placed back on the phone.

This took over 90 minutes to do

The multitasking won't work until app developers have implemented suppor tinto their apps, in this sense it isn't true multitasking (according to Apple, they "implemented it the 'right' way").

Cool update though.. nice to finally see background images supported.
