even for those HDDs that don't come loaded with software to turn the sleep timer off (ie. spin down), "Ashampoo HDD Control" should be able to do it. I've never had to use it personally as all the hard drives I have access to are either WD or Seagate, but it's been reported as being successful elsewhere on these forums

Thank you, thank you..... My Toshiba External Desktop HDD has this horrible 10sec sleep timer and ever time I disable it the Wii no longer recognizes it where its formatted to WBFS/FAT32/NTFS. I will definitely have to try and use that software cause the software i've been using was for another HDD.

You just taught me something new

EDIT: Does anyone know how to use this software to disable sleep in a external hdd? I have the trial version of ashampoo hdd control installed and a portable version of ashampoo hdd control 2. Thanks for the info.

I can't use it, my wii is on 4.2u
QUOTEI already soft modded my wii a long time ago

If your wii is already softmodded, what's the point in telling you can't use it? You don't need it.
It's already clearly stated that it only works on system menu 4.3.

Letterbomb not appearing in my Message Board for some reason. Followed the instructions perfectly (every thing is on the root of my SD card) Using 4.3U and verified my MAC address twice, and still no go. I'm able to see all my saves from my SD card, so i don't understand what's up.

Did you go to your mail and navigate to the previous day (press -)?

Yes, I have. I've even gone as far as to check all the way back to 2008
Did you copy everything to the root of your SD card? It should be set up like
SD:\private\wii\title\HAEA\....

I don't feel like typing out the whole thing, but you should get the idea.

Like I said, I extracted everything to the root (boot.elf, private folder, etc). So the directory for the message looks like:

G:\private\wii\title\HAEA\57F3A58A\650EDEA9\20117\10\15\44\HABA_#1

There should be two folders inside HAEA, and both of them should go past "HABA_#1"

Aren't you instructed to rename your private folder before copying this to the sd card?

Well, I got it to work finally. In the end I just backed up my saves and formatted my SD Card. Workin' like a charm. =D

20117 is not a valid year.

Not necessary, it doesn't overwrite anything (unless you somehow happen to already have a message backed up to the SD card with the same exact date and time).

if you have the right date configured on the wii. the guide on the hackmii site will be right....

You can still use priiloader to region free patch on 4.3 though right?

Which brick recovery homebrew was blocked? To be honest, like priiloader, all it needs are updates to make it compatible with newer System Menu's + their specific IOS.
Brick recovery becomes difficult when bootmii, priiloader and HBC are not an option. You then need another method to load apps to fix the wii.
4.1 has bannerbomb v1, bannerbomb v2, netflix disc, region free game exploits if needed, smash stack pal on all regions (except jap), possilbly giantpunes mailbox bomb.

4.2- bannerbomb v2, no region free, netflix only on ntsc-u, smash stack pal only via discswap (not 4.3j), possibly giantpunes mailbox bomb

4.3- no bannerbomb, no region free, netflix only on ntsc-u, smash stack pal only via discswap (not 4.3j), letterbomb, mailbox bomb (someday).

So 4.1 provides the most usable exploits if needed, it gives you every exploit available except TPH. 4.2/4.3 only limit the exploit you can use should you wish to use them.

Now that we have the letterbomb this issue is much less than what it was. In the past a wii could be bricked in a way preventing disc and channels from loading and a system exploit like bannerbomb was needed to fix, so 4.3 was sol. Example is the bug in dop-ios mod v11.3-11.4 and any similar issue. Now with letterbomb these wiis can be fixed (I think), so not such a big deal. But 4.1 still provides the most options, especially region free from RM if needed. Always have redundancies, and redundancies for your redundancies, the more the better.

starpatch does that on 4.3 or i missed something
Sorry, it's offtopic, but talking about starpatch:
Is there a homebrew which do the same thing than pre/priiloader/Starpatch, but without replacing the system menu? only temporary patches like Marcan's Wii Menu Loader? (I'm still on 3.2 so I can use Marcan's homebrew, but I'm just curious if someone made a temporary Wii menu patcher for 4.x).
Patching only the desired option when needed (disable update from disc, disable no-copy flag, etc.) without installing a Brickloader.

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Banana_Saves NVM, needs a cIOS.

Should be relatively *easy* for an developer to add the Region-Free Hack (or other Priiloader-Patches) to one of those, probably. I don't know for shure though, not a developer.
