No, it's the SSD. To get 1Gbps you need more than a mechanical hard drive, but my current SSD is speed limited to SATA2 speeds due to my motherboard. And that's seemingly what's causing me to miss 300Mbps from my download speed. Or, at least that's what my ISP told me.

SATA II Should be able to get 3x the speed you're getting. Even a good mechanical drive can store a 95 MB/s download.

Can't complain with my speed, one of the apartments I was living in back in 2012 had a very shoddy WiFi network and a very apathetic ISP to boot. The IT staff they hired to set up the routers, switches, etc in the apartment complex didn't know what they were doing, all the routers were using the same freaking channel. To make it worse, they were very low-tier quality routers to boot, very weak signals, luckily I had a way to use Ethernet after a while.

tl;dr my ISP has shitty data caps because I live in the middle of nowhere, and to "make it usable" they throttle download and upload speeds once you reach that cap I think I'm supposed to get 10 down on a "normal" day, but hey, gotta win the shittiest internet somehow :^)
