I thought you guys might want to know that I'm not just pursuing homebrew avenues to reach our final goal but also official ones. Below is a email I sent to Kevin Cassidy of the famous Nintendo
blog, "Go Nintendo" Under that first email is his response. I also sent a modified version of the first email to IGN. I have yet to receive a response or offer of help from them.
---------------- The Email --------------------
To whom it may concern,
I was wondering if someone from the Go Nintendo staff would be willing to investigate the reason behind Nintendo's unwillingness to give the "Internet Channel" a proper update. The channel has not seen a update since October 10, 2007. Since then things have gone downhill. Only two of the major video sites work (Youtube and Dailymotion), and NONE of the embedded videos on GoNintendo work from the Internet Channel (not even the Youtube embedded ones). I used to be able to recommend the "Internet Channel" as a solid purchase to new Wii owners but after a year plus of time, the channel is more of a joke. I am also trying to stir up interest at GBATemp. Sure the site is known for some shady things but the hackers there have learn a few things about the channel that we do have. I would rather go through an official way of doing things (Nintendo, Opera, Adobe) then to push a homebrew project. I see the project as a last effort to save something that is truly
great. Any help and answers will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Cirrell Battle (AKA LightyKD)
----------------- The Response ----------------
I'm going to contact Nintendo's Denise Kaigler about this to see if we can get a comment.
------------ In conclusion ------------
I'm fighting hard to not let us lose. The Internet Channel can be something truly great but I honestly can NOT recommend this channel as a purchase (to a new user) or a download (to a Wii modder) in its current state.
