Your assessments are correct. The native web browser on the Switch is extremely dated and will be of little use for modern streaming.
Maybe IPTV would work? Haven’t tried the one below myself, but I watched matches today on my firetv using IPTV (make sure you get FOX FS1 from your provider of choice)
