Added a new really easy method to make a magic memory stick, and tidied up the tutorial a bit.

Best part (for me) is that PSP Grader works great on Vista.

I used it a few days ago to make a Magic Memory Stick but I haven't gotten the courage up to make my Pandora Battery yet.

Wanted to say thanks a lot for the tutorial though. Chances are these are the methods I will use to make mine.

Just got my PSP Slim on Saturday.

I have three questions!

1) Do I need to unplug the AC adapter from the PSP when I'm going to use the Pandora Battery? I don't know anyone with a PSP so if it dies on me, I'm pretty screwed I figure.
2) When I do eventually make a dump of my nand data (after the PSP turns itself off etc) can I just remove the Pandora battery, reattach the AC adapter and access the USB menu from the System settings so I can copy the data over to my PC? I don't have a card adapter for the Memory Stick Duo but I'd like to make a backup.
[Last one is... slightly off topic I suppose!]
3) Updating your firmware seems pretty complicated! I heard from somewhere that post-3.80M33 you can just use the Network Update option to automatically update to 3.90M33-2 with no problems. At the same time I read somewhere else that you need to do all these complicated boot methods to update it but it never actually specifies how. Do you just run the PBP as an application?

Stupid questions I know!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) No, you don't need to take the AC adapter out. Just plug in the Adapter, (hold down the L trigger if you are using PSP Grader) whack in the battery, then turn it on with the power switch if it doesn't automatically boot.

2) Yes, you can do it that way as well

If I recall correctly isn't there a way to turn a Slim battery into a Pandora (if yours is already installed with custom firmware, no hard-modding) using a similar method as you would for the original PSP battery? I have turned a Phat battery into a Pandora before and used it to install CFW on my Slim so if I could use this same method (running a homebrew app on the Slim to transform the battery and revert it back later) and install CFW the same way on another PSP Slim, correct? I read about it months back but can't seem to remember it all.

Alright, so I did everything as stated... But nothing ever happens...

I hardmodded my Slim battery to make the Pandora Battery and when inserted it boots to a blank black screen.
I created the MagicMem using the PSP Grader.
Upon inserting the MagicMem and then inserting the Pandora Battery the power light comes on, yet the memory card light does not flash and the four line screen does not appear.

I am using a fully charged battery, and my firmware is OFW 3.72.

Thus can anyone help me? I would really like to have CFW!! Thanks a bunch!!

Also have problems with installing new firmware.

I just bought a Slim (3.90 firmware) and a pandora battery, ran the PSP Grader software on my 4gb card and on a 1gb card. When I try and put the battery in nothing happens at all.

Would appreciate some help please ><

Edit: Nvm, After trying quite a few methods I found out that Vista was my problem. God I hate Vista.

First of all, awesome that this is now stickied. well worth it. 2nd, I finally got my slim PSP and used the prefered method (both for the battery and the pspgrader) and it worked great. I was even able to use the pencil trick to fix the battery. It did not work well with one pencil I was using, but then I tried a normal #2 pencil and it did the trick. Awesome, awesome, awesome. many thanks to all of those that helped get me back into the PSP.

Can I hardmod a battery made in JAPAN ?
I havent tried it but ive heard from other people that it wont work. if you try it with anime_junkies method and it doesnt work, you can repair it.
