and tell me why the hell the 0.4 install would suddenly NOT work after it was released and shown to be stable and working?
hell, what if that SM ios install fails? he'll also have a brick
wink.gif

since the SM ios is the one booting SM (and preloader/priiloader) in the first place...

there is just no excuse not to install priiloader 0.4 right now (and you only need a patched HBC ios or cios lol )

i once encountered this after installing priiloader 0.2 what i did was update to 0.3 and then set priiloader to load ios70. reinstalled hbc and now im back in system menu

this is cause 0.2 didn't do this
CODEÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂif ( ToLoadIOS != (u8)IOS_GetVersion() )
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ{
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ//reload ios
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ}
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂelse
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ{
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ//do nothing
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ}
which made it work for you

what you also should have done is set "use system menu ios" on

@lolwut: Priiloader v0.4 is only compatible with earlier versions of the HBC including the temporary 1 as well! Priiloader v0.5 (Beta) is compatible with newer versions of the HBC (v1.0.7 + v1.0.8)

ye, and 0.5 beta is a BETA

since he's scared of bricking i'd say 0.4 is his best bet

also, afaik, the last public 0.5 doesn't support the last HBC id but i could be wrong. not that i care since i am on a rev build from dacotaco :-P

dude, calm down. Either method will work. In fact, I recommend people have both a patched SM IOS and Priiloader v0.4 installed. So neither of us are wrong... the only Q is what should the OP do first! Anyways... we're arguing over this and the OP is nowhere to be seen... so until he returns... I think I'm gonna bow out of this thread
biggrin.gif

btw, I dont think priiloader is dependent on the SM IOS... I'm not 100% on this... maybe when I have some free time, I'll delete my SM IOS and see if I can still access priiloader (@ anyone listening in, DO NOT TRY THIS IF U DO NO HAVE BOOTMII @ BOOT2!)

edit: lolwut, u are correct, the latest binary of priiloader 0.5 beta doesn't support launching the new HBC. However, if u install the latest beta, then do an online update, it will support it (or so I've heard).

it doesn't really matter unless he wants to autoboot to the HBC anyways. Priiloader v0.4+ has a title launcher that can be used to launch any channel, including the new HBC

dude, if priiloader wasn't dependent of the SM ios; then why the fuck wouldn't it help against SM ios stub installations? (it doesn't)

do you even KNOW the wii boot sequence ?
its boot0->boot1->boot2->system menu ios-> system menu title

if you have bootmii @ boot2 and priiloader its like this :

its boot0->boot1->bootmii getting run as boot2 and that loads the actual boot2 code->system menu ios-> system menu title(with priiloader as boot dol and therefor run as first dol of system menu)

so tell me, how the fuck wouldn't it be ios dependant ?

now that that is out of the way...

why the hell are you recommending ppl to have a patched ios and priiloader at the same time!? it makes 0 sense and only causes more potential user error,program errors and mistakes! just use the freaking use ios for system menu options

yes I know the boot sequence, and I appreciate u answering my question so I don't need to test if priiloader will work without a SM IOS. U didn't have to be a dick about it. I thought since the newer versions of priiloader have an option to select what IOS to load the SM with, maybe it isn't dependent on a SM IOS. Apparently I was wrong, big deal, its not like I was going around telling people its safe to delete their SM ios!

there are more benefits to having a patched system menu IOS than just getting older versions of priiloader to be able to boot the system menu. Although I haven't encountered it myself, some claim that u cannot launch out of region wiiware and/or fakesigned titles off the sd card menu without it.

Anyways, chill out okay? If u disagree with me on anything I've said, I'd love to hear what u have to say, and if it turns out I am wrong, I am man enough to admit it. So lets just have a calm adult conversation, alright buddy?

ok, then it must be preloader then at that time. priiloader works tho

@OP, the guide u followed is crap, once u get to the system menu, i encourage u to rehack your wii using modmii as if it were the first time u are modding it. This will ensure u have all the latest and best shit on ur Wii (and it should satisfy lolwut cuz it will update priiloader)

edit:
@dn_angel000
the OPs problem isn't that he doesn't have a SM IOS installed, its that he doesn't have a patched SM IOS installed

I am able to access the system menu now. If I were to use modmii, does it matter if I'm already hacked? Will it just overwrite all of the IOSs/etc that I have already worked on? Modmii is a windows program, but from what your saying it sound like a program I would put on my SD Card and load on my Wii to hack it? Which is kind of confusing me ):

I understand maybe there's multiple ways to fix my brick, but if you ask me patching IOS 70 worked fine for me and got my system menu back. The way I see it, either way would have worked fine for me (:

yes run it like your wii hasnt been hacked before. itll overwrite all the old ios's and junk, doesnt matter whether it has been hacked or not.

modmii IS a windows program. you run it on your pc and it gives you instructions on what to do and downloads all the stuff for you. you run the downloaded stuff on your wii as per modmii's instruction.

now, glad that your patched 70 fixed your brick
biggrin.gif
have you installed priiloader yet? if not, dont fret. modmii should tell you to do it.

try installing the hackmii installer's boot.elf as file and run that to try to install the HBC

edit: can u access bootmii?

edit2: don't worry, from where u are there a lots of ways to fix u, just dont rush and try something silly
Just tried to load bootmii and was successful! What now? By the way, my Wii was not able to install it under boot2. So bootmii is installed as an IOS for me.

Thanks for offering so much help and I'll try to calm down a little (:

First Download Wad manger 1.4 thats if you currently don't have it run it off hbc channel
link HERE

then download this

install IOS70-patched.wad – for 4.2
Download here, IOS70patched

place it in the sd/wad folder

Then run wad manger and find the wad file and install IOS70-patched.wad DON'T UNINSTALL IT NEVER It will brick your wii

& Thats All that should fix the error with the system menu it should Run now just FINE

Well you get an "A for Effort" but I'm already past that part (: Thanks though!
But anyway, I am working on using ModMii and get my Wii hacked and every IOS up to date (: Thanks you all for all of your help!

hey dude, glad to see u got it fixed, even though its already been said, just run ModMii's Wizard function from the main menu and answer the questions as if your wii has not been modified before

edit:
@Artxx, u don't get an A for effort, u get an F for FAIL! U may know what ur talking about, but first of all u linked to illegal files (u should remove that link), u didn't read the thread to realize u are just repeating other people (namely me) AND that the OP already fixed the problem (as he already told u)... and thirdly... well, 1 and 2 are enough to fail... but at least u seem to know what ur talking about... so u got potential
biggrin.gif

@riffdex, u should also remove the link from your post when u quoted Artxx

I got everything working (menu, priiloader, etc). The only thing that I haven't been able to get working, I have been working on since yesterday. I have been trying to install a Backup Launcher Channel so I can load legitimate backed up games. None of the versions I have tried seem to work. One thing is, everytime I try to install DVDX is says "Error -2011 installing DVD Stub ticket". But maybe I already have DVDX installed? When I try to use the backup launchers it says "DVD Identity Failed" for all backups. However these are working discs that I can load on a different Wii. (The other Wii works fine for everything and was hacked a while back with the Twilight Hack).

dude, use modmii, u obviously aren't using modmii if u are trying to install dvdx. dvdx has been removed from the hackmii installer as it has been replaced with better methods for direct hardware access.

after properly modding ur wii, just download and use neogamma to play backup discs

Well I did use Modmii to go through the part of making sure all of my IOSs/Priiloader/HBC were up to date (ModMii Wizard + Guide). But the only thing I don't have on my Wii that I want now is a backup launcher, so I went try to find one and everyone I see says I need DVDX. So I guess what you're saying is I don't need DVDX, and I need Neogamma. I'm sorry I'm such a noob and this is taking me so long to do something you guys could probably do no problem (: But I really appreciate the help. Would I find Neogamma in ModMii or would I need to look elsewhere? So far looking in ModMii I haven't found Neogamma yet.

Hello, I have got that Wii all sorted out great. However, I have another Wii I hacked a while ago with Twilight Princess hack, and I am trying to install Priiloader on it. But when I tried to install Priiloader I get this message...

ES_Identity failed, error 4294966279. ios58 not patched with ES_DIVerify? using cios (holding b then pressing + or -) will probably solve this. NOTE: You need CIOS for this.
Do you wish to continue?
A = Yes B = No Home/Start = Exit

So I just exited cuz I was afraid to mess anything up, now I'm just wondering where to go from here?
