Truth be told, i was really anticipating wii's release, but due to lack of time and funds at the time i held it off and ended up buying a DS (considering it was easily pirated was a major plus).
Now wii modchips arent bad (despite not being able to run wii homebrew yet?) but i really see not enough value in it. Twilight princess is the biggest game i was interested in but it didn't quite get the rave reviews i expected. Not to mention if i got a modchip my ability to download isos would be severely restricted due to limited bandwidth.
I also dislike the underpowering of the machine, despite not being a graphics whore, it isn't hardly better than an xbox, and has limited media capabilities.
Despite my love of the wiimote's design, i feel the motion sensing is too imperfect and often used for far too gimmicky purposes rather than the practical options. There has been too much focus on casual games too.
If Wii's GFX and horsepower were upped a bit (not Hi def though) and third party games were better, it'd be a much better buy.
Still, i'd buy it over PS3 or Xbox360 LOL
