Although I'm inexperienced in modding, I imported some models from OBJ/DAE to MDL0/BRRES for common.szs mods, a few years ago. However, the texturing is very wrong.
For example, I made a cylinder model with a Mountain Dew texture (I have my reasons) to replace the green shell. The model works in game, but the texture seems to repeat about 1/10 of it twice, making the sides of it very distorted. Yet, the model and textures look just fine in BrawlBox.
I don't remember much of the importing process, but I'm pretty sure I used BrawlBox.
