I thought the Windows version would handle everything, since I don’t use mobile apps. Didn’t realize that contact invites only work through Android/iOS.
My mistake — I’ll remove the app. Too bad.

What is that and what does it do?

Olvid is a messaging app that doesn't require a phone number or email, so it's completely anonymous.
What does it do? It lets you send texts, photos, and files with top-level encryption, collecting no personal data or metadata (who talks to whom, when, etc.).
Note: To add someone, you need the mobile app — the Windows desktop version doesn't work on its own (it still requires your phone or has major limits). Bottom line: no one can know who you are, who you talk to, or what you say, but you must use your smartphone to manage contacts.
