IGN review's and rating is biased for the past 15 years. They don't really like Nintendo because redactors comes from the era where the gfx and the power of a console are more important than gameplay and entertainment value. They also get money and presskit from big production studios and the best places at boots here and there.

The game is both good and bad for me. It's bad because the world is just to damn big and a lot of nothing in between. There's not much going on in the world except few enemies placed here and there. Also, no hints and looking for the leaf people and all the shrines is a bit tiring too. I'm not saying navigation to exact point, but at least something indicating where about / around it's at. It wouldn't be bad looking for it if the world wasn't so big with dullness.

When will people finally understand that 10/10 does NOT mean a perfect game? If that was true, no game would ever get more than 7/10. The mark only shows the enjoyment the game gan give to a random player. If the Pros overwhelm the cons massively enough, it can get a 10/10. That's why on IGN's rating, 10 is "Masterpiece". That describes a game that is so good that the small defaults won't affect your experience. And that's what BOTW is. The ratings are addressed to players with a heart.

There's hardly any experience in life for which I would not moderate my impression after extended exposure. This 'on second thought' follow-up would be fine, if every game IGN reviewed got the 're-visited' treatment.
