I have an old Wii. I bought it used in late 2007 and know that it has some drivechip. What's the easiest way to identify the chip in my console? Is it possible to do without opening it up and looking inside?

If your Wii has a drivechip installed, you can try to see if it has a configuration menu built-in. To check, try pressing the 'Eject' button on the console (x3) making sure that there's no disc in the drive when doing so. If you get the GameCube icon in the Disc Channel, then you have likely got a DriveKey chip installed.

Otherwise, then it's some other drivechip installed, of which it can be identified by taking apart the console.
