Just looked through my SD card and noticed that the database for the game titles are on the SD card, so would it not be possible to backup my SD card to a PC, then system transfer to another 3DS and then restore my backed up files.

Just want to know because i might get another 3DS if so.

you know, in his defense that thread has like 75 pages of comments. It would be easy for the answer to that question to be passed up.

Not entirely sure how it works, but in short; no.
The games are tied to the 3DS with a key, we would need to crack the key to do it.
It's a nice idea and all, but Ninty thought of it when they made the 3DS.

No it wouldn't, in a system transfer, the per-console key is given to the target 3DS (along with the eShop title rights and cash balance), and then the source 3DS does a system format when complete and which deletes all data, wipes the current eShop account and creates a new per-console key. You can use the backed up data on the target 3DS, but no-longer on the source 3ds.

Just out of curiosity, what happens if you power off before it gets a chance to format?

Ask Plasma Dragon.

There's already a thread about this and frankly, it's been discussed time and time again -_-

@ferret7463 true that

Look can we just accept that people aren't going to read every post in the hacking theories thread? I don't think there's really anything wrong with what has become the defacto standard here:
  • Somebody posts idea
  • A bunch of smartarses point out the hacking theories thread whilst simultaneously offering no further insight
  • Idea is discussed, or if it has been brought about before then the reasons why it aren't viable are pointed out to the OP
  • content of thread is moved to the hacking theories thread
Let's face it. If somebody did come up with a really really good idea, and they posted in in the awesome thread, then it'd probably never be seen and passed over...

The point is he should have posted in that thread instead of making his own.

The point is I don't think he should. I think we need to accept that people won't, and I don't even think it's a good idea that they do.

Make a case here, then.

The point of the theory is that it's theory and is not useful (yet).
IF the theory is a good one and everyone think it's no more a theory but can be applied, THEN post it in the non theory topic to share it with users not following the theory thread.

And instead of theories, you could have tested it yourself and post your result, it wouldn't be a theory anymore but a real subject.
