ok to fix this whole argument, i wasn't really thinking properly, a file sharing program for the ds would only be great for maybe saves or something (low-"light weight" data) What I meant was for like a program that goes straight to a site where you can download mp3's and maybe 15 sec .dpg clips. basically it is like the homebrew database created by dragonminded, but it is for multimedia. That's what I meant...

That is a very good idea, but pretty much impossible.

First off for mp3's. Most are about 3 MB's which will take forever when downloading.

Same for the dpg's and nds files, but instead, they are SO MANY MANY TIMES BIGGER. So if you downloaded an average nds rom, it would take hours.

If there is away than correct me, and ill edit my post.

nice idea

Limewire isn't open source the last time I checked. Never going to happen. Besides that, limewire sucks and most people that get sued by the RIAA are using Kazaa or Limewire

There is DSFTP, and DSO has a download function. A cheap $20/month server with free upload access and a MOTD list for DSO would work best

DSFTP turns your DS into a FTP server. I don't think it is a FTP client.
Also, hosting isn't that expensive. I used to pay 7 dollars a month for great webhosting at dreamhost (nice host, a few problems, and a few annoyances with their policies, but great all in all).

So if there ever was a ftp client for the DS, I would probably look into allowing anonymous access to my server via ftp.

edit-also upload access is free if you pay for the server...
And as for limewire. No one would 'port' that. Maybe release an app under the same name, but never port.

there should be probably 3 versions:

R4ds and M3 DSversion
Supercard Version
and DS-Xtreme Version.

Moar liek:

-R4DS and M3 Simply version
-CycloDS version
-G6 Real version
-N-Card and clones version

Note that slot-2 cards would probably never work for this type of thing.

I think using the DSO Homebrew Browser would be better for downloading from a community server. I'll research how to do it

http://www.dragonminded.com/dsorganize/wik...mebrew_Database

"You will need a web server with PHP 4+ and MySQL 4+ and use this PHP Script by GeekShadow and Scrawl. To connect, you must have a ".hbdb file" with the link of your server inside. Simply launch this file in the browser to activate your custom database."

Wouldn't be very hard, I'll take to Chaz about setting one up for dpgdownloads

hey guys

im making that limewire ds now

but there are exeptions:
i have to change the name of the project, becoz of limewires copyright laws, and it isnt gonna be set out exactly like limewire

oh, and it would take long coz im busy with other stuff

now those who says the files are too big,

DS WiFi caps out at around 10kbps. The DS can not transfer data faster than that when running homebrew. Unless you can break the laws of physics. Can you?

- Sam

Wasnt DS wifi capped at 2 MBit ? Which allows you (in theory) to get a max speed of 128 KB/s.

Nope. Homebrew wireless is slower than legit game wireless... The homebrewers can't figure out how to make it faster because Nintendo put some sort of protection on there.

I could of sworn I got a steady 36 kB/s using the HBDB in DSO.

Or the "programmer" could just integrate DLDI into the program

Lol, I'm glad that I'm not the first one thinking that.
