I do NOT own a 3d printer, but there are services that charge you to print a figure.
I thought It would be a good Idea to grab your Wii U's Mii figure and build a 3d model out of it, then possibly add a base similar to the Amiibos' (and hopefully with a person's name) and get that 3d printed. And with the ntag215's method you could make it a functional amiibo out of it too. It would make a nice little gift!

Has anyone ever had something like this made?
Is it possible to export a Mii and import it somehow into a 3d application?

No, for the same reason you can't convert Smash replays to a video: Miis are just a sequence of commands ("eyes, type 12, size 4, spacing 2, height 5"...)

Well, someone could invent a homebrew (console or PC) Mii viewer and renderer, but it would need to have graphics made from scratch to be legal, and Nintendo might still complain (remember My Avatar Editor?)
