I Need Help....Bad. I'm a Logophobic, a term i deemed my condition, if you will. I'm scared of logs. not like Disney Land logs, logs that computers and electronic devices use to track what you do over a period of time. For those who don't know, computers and other miscellaneous electronic devices create logs of stuff you do, such a keystrokes, mouse coordinate positions, and launched executable programs, and even websites you visit. I'm terrified of those logs. i have nothing to hide, but I still freak out about these logs and format my system. I go as far as the point as to completely format my calculator when I leave math class. I need help. I'm constantly formatting my laptop, my iPod, my 3DS, my old PSP, and even my phone. Anyone have anything that can help me with this? It's starting to ruin my life; And please, don't say anything like "If you have nothing to worry about if you don't do anything illegal". I've tried telling myself that before, and it just doesn't work. Thanks in advance

that's the strangest thing i've ever heard............

i honestly don't know of any program that could stop you from formatting your computer.... nor do i know why anyone would need one except you

Crap... The Terminator's out to get you...He is on a mission to terminate people who are afraid of technology, just in case that person somehow makes him obsolete. Run, now.

** Scratches head**

So you know you have a problem, you want help to resolve your problem, but you don't put two and two together and seek professional help? Find a psychologist, talk to them, and if it turns out they are not the right person to be getting help from, they will have a list of contacts that will be able to help with your particular issue.

PS: Skynet became self aware yesterday...now there is a problem you can worry about

do things ironically that would freak out whoever is reading the log to the point where they'll stop reading the log.

Um, I guess one way would be to travel to some remote island location completely devoid of any technology that uses the 0s and 1s. Just bring something to start fires, a knife, things to build shelter with, clothes, food, maybe hunting equipment and you're done. Thing is, you need a way to connect to people outside, in case accidents and stuff happens, which means some form of electronics.

Normally, I'd tell you to go to a psychiatrist, but those guys record your conversations, make notes and they probably have a database, to record patient records, which again, means logs. Damn, dude, why were you born in the 21st century? Good thing my Death Note isn't electronic, or you'd freak out on me, too.

Do I tell him that GBATemp also keeps... No, probably not, right?

Use a LiveCD on your PC and just store stuff on a flash drive.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_CD
When you shut down, everything is wiped (other than what you save to the flash drive manually).

[*]Download the knoppix livecd ISO.
http://www.kernel.org/pub/dist/knoppix/KNO...11-01-30-EN.iso
[*]Use some CD burning program that can burn iso images to disc as a disc image (like Free ISO Burner), simply burning that file onto a disc as a single file will not work.
[*]Generally in the program, you'd go to "file" and "open disc image" or "open image" or something and point it to the .iso and it takes care of the rest. Since it's an OS CD, I suggest burning it at a rather slow speed, like 2x or 4x or 8x, just to make sure there's no errors during burning. Just go read a book or something while it's burning.
[*]When it's done, take the disc out, and label it.
[*]Restart the malfunctioning computer. When it's first starting up you should see something like "press delete/F12 to enter setup", telling you to press a key. There might also be a "boot menu" key that gives you a choice of what to boot (such as HDD, USB, optical/CD/DVD), if so skip the rest of this paragraph. If not, press the setup key, and you'll get into your motherboard settings. There should be one about boot order in there, make sure that the optical (cd/dvd) drive is before/above the harddrive. If not, change them around so it is, but most modern computers will have it already set on that.
[*]Put the CD you made in the malfunctioning computer, and restart it. If it tells you to press a certain key to boot from CD while it's starting up, press that key.
[*]Wait for knoppix to startup. You'll get some sort of interface sort of similar to windows, and hopefully you can browse the internet from that CD.

Admittedly, this is something of a unique condition.

I actually like keeping logs so I can track back if I need/want to.

You should probably just stop using electronics all together and learn to survive in the wilderness. Then you should proceed with building a log cabin in the middle of nowhere and growing a beard for warmth. You would then live as a hunter/farmer for the rest of your life.

yeah, that's what you should do

Seek professional help.

You appear to have a clinical condition. I can only recommend that you seek professional help to address your issue. Please note this does NOT mean I think you are crazy. Note also that sometimes you really don't understand your own condition very well. I thought I was depressed for a long time, until I sought help and they narrowed it down to more Social Anxiety Disorder, which was causing the depression. Something I never would have realized without professional help. I was recommended one via my Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) but you should be able to find an equivalent resource, even your family doctor can help as well.

Some of the advice here (LiveCD stuff) isn't bad, but really only addresses your symptoms. Though it could be used to help in your recovery once you determine how to actually manage your condition.

In any case good luck.

You must be trolling.
You can't format a calculator...

Also logs are not made of everything you're doing on your PC. Your web habits might be monitored by Ad Cookies but you can disable cookies altogether to avoid any data being stored. Disable your browsing history if you want too.

Keylogs are NOT stored on your PC unless you've got a keylogger installed somewhere. If your PC is virus free: you're safe. Mouse coordinate positions are not saved either. Even then, wtf could somebody do with that.

As for the rest of the stuff. Any logs those things keep never go anywhere. Nobody has any info on you.

You don't suffer from "logophobia" what you have is severe paranoia! You believe somebody is watching and keeping an eye on everything you do. For no reason.

Personally I suffer from anatidaephobia.

So post in a forum which is a log that you've been here, have an account, and have typed and clicked around here. Meanwhile, local logs on your computer prove you were on the internet, GBAtemp now has your ip, and everything is sitting securely on their server that you can't format, and all to tell us you're afraid of logs?

....

Uh, I think you need a break from technology. Logs are everywhere, even IRL.
I would suggest you NOT invest in an iPhone though, it keeps logs of when and where you go somewhere.
But, see a Psychiatrist in why things keeping records scare you...

You can't format a calculator...

I know for sure that my graphing calculator can be formatted, and it's a kinda old TI-83 graphing series.
