I got a 3DS!!!! But.....

So yeah, I got a 3DS yesterday!!!!!!!!! w00t. I got Pilotwings Resort as well. I just think how sucky the 3DS's layout is absoloute crap. The stylus is at the back.

and... and... well thats it. I hate that and that its soooooooo shiny. (actually i like the shininess) well, i just what to know what you think about it and why.

I must admit that I did get used to the stylus being on the side, it provided easy access plus I played with it a lot haha. Although the stylus on the 3DS seems to stay in place a LOT better. Which is good for not loosing it, but bad for grabbing it quickly.

Your only real gripe is that the storage area for the stylus in the back of the system, yet the entire "layout is [absolute] crap"?

The original DS was designed the same way. Been playing my phat since early 2006. Never got in the way of my enjoyment of the system or games. I like the design, personally.

I had a huge problem with it for the first day I had it. After that though when I played my DSi I found myself trying to take the stylus from the back where the 3DS has it at. I still don't necessarily like it, but I don't mind it. I do find myself using my thumbs for the touch screen, that's alright because I have screen protector though.

i was used to dsi and i pressed it by mistake xD
btw the stylus storage place is good as it is very sturdy
but yeah i always try to grab it from the right of the system like i used to do with the dsi

Usually I pop out the stylus and put it between my fingers when playing DS games. Even if it doesn't require the stylus I still do it out of habit.

My only real concern with the layout is if the circle slider thing will work well where it's placed, but I don't have many worries about that. After living with an analog nub and playing largely lengthy games an analog nub on the PSP, I'm sure the circle pad will work fine.

The stylist position is always bitched about and I think the reason is because its a change, not a lot of people like changes with their consoles especially when a newer version comes out and it doesnt do what the old one did. my only gripes are when you play a DS game the top screen isnt using the full size it could *dsi xl, although stretched and pixelated it still looked better than the 3DS resolution* AND the other bit i dont like is the loss of color (colour)


Edit: and another thing about the stylist. At least you don't have to walk somewhere else in your fuckin house to get the damn thing. stop being lazy its 2-6 inches (depending on the hand) away from the G-spot. so stop being super lazy.

its a bad change though. taking a stylus on the side is much easier, quicker and smoother. now i dont even take out my stylus alot anymore. i just use my finger.

i agree that its a bad change lol, was never against the topic. but idk why everyone has to go to the extreme to rant about it in 8 different threads lol. i do admit i miss it on the sides for the super quick access but i bought a starter kit that came with the bigger pen which is way better for me than the mini telescopic stylist cause i have bad wrists and the bigger stylist are more comfortable.

wasn't the ds phats stylus on the right side? even the ds phat's stylus is easier to take out than the 3ds (most people are righthanded).

No, it's on the back behind the screen (like to the right of where the DS cartridges go).

EDIT: I don't know if you mean to the right side of the system or to the right of the cartridge.

And considering I've only owned, play, and will own a DS Phat, I'm pretty used to where the stylus is. I don't even know where the stylus is placed on other systems outside of the DSi (since my dad owns one, although I've probably used it for all of half an hour at most).

it only took a few hours to get used to though.
