ok, its been afew days. I opened up a gamecube controller and followed the instructions for savemiifrii, ie hold down all 4 direction pad buttons on 4th port while powering on the system. I get nothing.
Specifically, my TV shows literally no signs of input at all. To be safe I tried different TVs and I also tried component and composit output. Same results every time.
I'd just like to confirm here that there is no way to recover my system, or my saves, from this before I go to buy a new one.

Actually, can anyone tell me what is involved with sending the system to nintendo?
What are the time frames and costs involved.
Would they be able to fix my system or recover my saves in the state it's in now, and in what state would they return it to me, as far as being able to hack it again?
