Hey guys! I got mad that everytime I use my gamecube controllers I had to use this stupid bulky adapter. So I did what every board tinker would do and I unscrewed the shell and to my surprise (on my model anyway) the board is flush with the ports and with a little board "trimming" it fits in my dock! I shortened the cable (I know the tape is dangerous so I haven't tried anything yet. I have to find time to get proper electrical tape/heat shrink.) Now, I have a few problems with this approach.
1. The blocking of the gap really worries me
2. I'm a bit worried that I accidentally cut a trace or something.
3. I'm scared that if a smash game gets to intense, I could risk the dock falling over and damaging my switch.

I don't know, it's dumb but I like it

I’m literally gonna do this now does anyone have a 3d printer document of the back of the switch dock? If not we should make one to have this sit flush and look like it’s supposed to go there. We could draw power from the outlet and sacrifice one USB port instead

So, I have been goofing around with some stuff in some 3d modeling. if we 3d print a new back that has a slight indent for the board and the wire connector and everything. Would print it but I am too poor for a 3d printer. Once I perfect the model, I'll post it! Keep in mind that it will be for the "Model: WH-046" board and if the want is enough, i will try to do one with the official adapter but I know nothing about that so it might be a while.

I’d like to help out with this what application are you using to create the model? I have access to a 3D printer so I should be able to print it relatively cheap

I was using tinkercad but the project didn't save which doesn't make sense to me but whatever. I might have something tomorrow for you!

hey guys!
sorry for barging in, just wanted to show you something similar to your dock idea. its basically the same concept as your switch dock but it's fitted inside a GameCube with 3d printed parts and a GameCube adapter solder onto the OEM controller board. There's a tutorial online from the original creator Rated-E Mods on YouTube if you're curious. If you got any questions just let me know!
